New Zealand thrashed Zimbabwe in the only T20 international by 80 runs at Harare Sports Club, Harare to claim to the T20 series 1-0. Asked to bat first, New Zealand scored 198 runs at loss of five wickets in mandatory 20 over and in reply Zimbabwe could only manage 118 runs at loss of eight wickets which means visitors won the match by 80 runs.

Chasing a mammoth total of 198 runs, Zimbabwe had a terrible start of their inning as they loss four top wickets inside seven over for just 34 runs. Hamilton Masakadza was caught by Ronchi off Adam Milne for 6 and his partner Chamu Chibhabha was bowled by James Neesham for 6 too. Both these wickets fell at the score of 12 only. Sikandar Raza was promoted up to the batting order but he couldn’t utilized this opportunity and fall to a lose shot against McClenaghan to be caught by Ronchi for 8. Skipper Elton Chigumbura was caught by Munro off Nathan McCullum for just 2. Craig Ervine who came in at No. 3 provided little resistance to the batting order but his scoring rate was too slow that he could make any impact on the match what so ever. He was the last wicket to fell 42 off 46-balls.

Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first as they have done throughout this season on most occasions. Captain Kane Williamson made a quick start to the inning. He scored 20 runs off 12 deliveries. George Worker, who came in at 3 was the star performer for New Zealand with the bat. His 62 came off just 38 balls with the help of three boundaries and four sixes. He added 49 runs for the second wicket with Martin Guptill (33). Lower middle order came in very handy for visitors. Luke Ronchi (29), Colin Munro (23) and Nathan McCullum (18) played a important cameo late in the inning. Visitors scored more than 50 runs in last four over to reach such a mammoth score of 198.
